Jean Moulin School Group
Our composition is designed based on a ribbon model. It turns back into itself and has no gable or hierarchy between the facades. The building grows, distorts and bends to create voids and extensions towards the inside of the plot. This continuous unit which turns back on itself creates external or more private spaces, “gaps”, or on the contrary perfectly defined spaces. This is reinforced by the ribbon’s elevation: to the north, the building is set in the ground, whilst to the south, the ribbon “takes off” by the library to cross the land and form the courtyard. This movement from the nursery reception lobby culminates at the south-west end of the building, where the primary school’s entrance is located. This feeling is reinforced by the facade’s twists and turns, which accompany the changing glossy concrete elements and matt wooden cladding elements. This gives the facade resonance and depth.
